This volume presents 70 years of the development of the Technical University in Dresden since its founding, depicted in words and images. Illustrated with 75 black-and-white images. The Technical Educational Institution in Dresden was established on May 1, 1828, to train specialists in technical fields such as mechanics, mechanical engineering, and shipbuilding in response to increasing industrialization. The founding director was Wilhelm Gotthelf Lohrmann, who set up the institution in a pavilion on the Brühl Terrace. Following its first reform in 1851, the school emerged as the Royal Saxon Polytechnic School, thus being equated with the Royal Saxon Mining Academy in Freiberg as the highest technical educational institution in Saxony. In the founding year of the German Empire, the educational institution was renamed Royal Saxon Polytechnic in 1871.
