A hiking guide through the Gottleubatal before 1900. The spa town of Bad Gottleuba, located about 4 km south of Berggiesshübel by the Gottleuba River (337-507 m above sea level, approximately 2,100 inhabitants), was founded in the 13th century as a mining settlement. The town has had city rights since 1463. The late Gothic town church, built around 1525, features a beautiful ribbed and net vault as well as a valuable branch portal. Notable sights in the market square include a post distance column from 1731 and the market fountain from 1923. The healing springs have been known since 1828, and the first spa house in Gottleuba was established in 1881. The clinic sanatorium, built between 1909 and 1913, offers healing treatments for diseases of the musculoskeletal system, cardiovascular system, gastrointestinal tract, and metabolism.
