Product details

The stud farms of both domestic and foreign origin were published in 1901. This is a description of the most renowned horse breeding establishments (the main, state, and private studs) along with their goals and achievements. It is intended for veterinarians, horse breeders, farmers, and sports enthusiasts. The book includes many illustrations of stud brands. Several hundred studs from across Europe (with special consideration for Germany and Austria-Hungary) are described by name, owner, geographical location, history, breeding direction, and brand. The oldest still existing stud in Europe is the Marstall of the Einsiedeln Monastery (1064) in Switzerland. Other famous studs include the National Stud Kladruby nad Labem (1579) in the Czech Republic, Lipizza (1580) in Slovenia, the former Prussian main stud Trakehnen (1731), and the Bábolna stud in Hungary. This is a reprint of the original edition from that year.
