100/125
German, 2018Product details
In 1918, a group of dedicated collectors founded the Swiss Graphic Society. Since then, its goal has been to promote contemporary printmaking through new commissions. From the very beginning, the society limited its membership to 125 and stipulated that the works produced could not be sold. This allowed the SGG to encourage important, even international artists to create prints free from market pressures and to experiment freely. Over the course of more than a century, the SGG has published nearly 400 works, including those by significant artists such as Otto Meyer-Amden, Cuno Amiet, Meret Oppenheim, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Paul Klee, Alberto Giacometti, Silvia Bächli, John M. Armleder, Markus Raetz, Franz Gertsch, Christiane Baumgartner, Dieter Roth, Bernhard Luginbühl, A.R. Penck, Georg Baselitz, Mai-Thu Perret, Rosemarie Trockel, and Peter Doi.
