Architects love books – and for good reason. Many offices treasure their library as a frequently used resource that serves as both essential tools of the trade and an indispensable source of inspiration and well-founded knowledge. The Institute of Constructive Design at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences ZHAW aims to foster this fruitful love. Numerous staff members of the institute and renowned guests such as Martin Tschanz and Jürg Conzett have opened their book treasures. Around 100 literature recommendations with a focus on construction have been compiled, presented in this book with personal comments. The literature guide is divided into chapters on Theory and History, Load-Bearing Structures and Frameworks, Construction and Building Technology, Building Materials and Components, Example Buildings, as well as Fiction and Literary Thoughts on Construction. The selection ranges from fundamental standards.
