Esther Eppstein is a central figure in the Swiss cultural scene as an artist and art mediator. From 1996 to 2013, she operated the now legendary art space 'message salon' in Zurich. Initially located on Ankerstrasse, it moved to a caravan in 1998/99, then to Rigiplatz, and finally to Perla Mode, a former clothing store on Langstrasse. The message salon was the hub of a network of artists and art enthusiasts. Many now well-known artists had their first public appearances here. For Esther Eppstein, the 'message salon' is a social sculpture, and the 58 photo albums she created to document exhibitions, film, music, and performance evenings, as well as visitors, represent her art project.
