Since 2014, the Musée Jenisch Vevey has owned over 600 works on paper by Ferdinand Hodler, which it received as a gift from the collector Rudolf Schindler. This has made the museum a center for Hodler research. In the summer of 2015, a large selection from this treasure will be exhibited for the first time. This accompanying publication also provides a first glimpse into the collection of these previously unpublished works in book form. From quick sketches to fully realized figure drawings completed in the studio, the sheets offer insight into the artist's creative process. At the same time, the book highlights the central role that drawing played in Hodler's overall work. The volume is complemented by essays from distinguished experts on the Schindler collection, individual works by Hodler, and international networking.
