She discovered Roman Signer, Imi Knoebel, and Franz Erhard Walther had their first Swiss exhibitions in her St. Gallen gallery: Wilma Lock was for many years the Betty Parsons of the Swiss art scene. When she opened her exhibition spaces in 1969, Harald Szeemann presented the groundbreaking exhibition "When Attitudes Become Form" at the Kunsthalle Bern. Young artists discovered new materials and experimented with new forms, marking a turning point in contemporary art on an international scale. When Wilma Lock closed her gallery in 2009, the art market had evolved into a global investment vehicle.
