Jean-Pierre Kaiser
French, German, 2017Product details
The Lausanne artist Jean-Pierre Kaiser (1915-2001), trained and later a teacher for nearly 30 years at the then École cantonale de dessin ECAL in Lausanne, created not only numerous stained glass windows, murals, graphic design, and smaller sculptures but also more than 300 printmaking works. Tirelessly, he dedicated himself to etching. In this technique, he brought mysterious worlds to life on paper: enormous machines with human appearances, gigantic cities floating between earth and sky, or seemingly carved floral patterns in stone. For the first time in over four decades, a comprehensive monograph is dedicated to Kaiser’s printmaking oeuvre. The book particularly highlights the immense artistic quality of his impressive fantasy worlds. Furthermore, it illustrates the extent to which Kaiser’s works resonate within contemporary Swiss art.
