Product details

Otto Morach (1887-1973) is one of the most significant representatives of Swiss Modernism. From 1910 onwards, the artist, born in Solothurn, traveled repeatedly to Paris, where he became acquainted with Cubism and Futurism, incorporating these influences into his work. The focus of this new monograph is on the lesser-known yet equally outstanding works on paper compared to Morach's paintings. The publication brings together a selection of independent works on paper that impressively showcase Morach's drawing virtuosity: gouaches and watercolors, charcoal, pencil, and ink drawings. Additionally, his expressionist woodcuts and a selection of self-designed postcards are presented. One of the highlights includes the gouaches with which Morach prepared his puppets for the marionette theater Boîte à joujoux in 1918, created concurrently with the marionettes by Sophie.
