Valérie Favre, born in 1959 and raised in Neuchâtel, initially worked as a set designer and actress in Paris after training in theater in the early 1980s, but then fully dedicated herself to painting. Since 1998, she has lived in Berlin, where she has also been a professor of painting at the University of the Arts since 2006. Favre's works, which can be divided into series of paintings, drawings, and collages, reflect artistic imagination, always connected with motifs from cinema, theater, literature, and art history.
