Varlin (Willy Guggenheim 1900-1977). Before the war, he lived in Berlin and Paris, followed by travels and longer stays in Italy, Spain, and England. He lived in Zurich and Bondo. A gifted author of letters and travel reports ("If I Could Write Poetry," Scheidegger & Spiess Publishing). Friedrich Dürrenmatt (1921-1990) decides, torn between painting and literature, to focus on writing starting in 1943, which becomes his profession. However, drawing and painting remain lifelong pursuits.
