Product details

Yoga for children is now used in many educational and clinical fields. One of the pioneers of children's yoga in Germany summarizes the scientific foundations of child yoga for the first time in this book. This scientific summary, which was initiated with a dissertation project at the University of Leipzig in 1994, has contributed to the establishment of children's yoga in institutions across Germany. This book primarily focuses on describing the mechanisms of action, scientifically determining indications and contraindications, and providing a scientifically grounded definition and methodology for yoga practice for children. Thus, a model of understanding child yoga is developed, allowing "medical" yoga in its traditional form to unfold among children. At the same time, it prevents children's yoga from becoming a nonspecific wellness offering that mixes dance, movement games, massages, and other activities, thereby losing its effectiveness and tradition. In this regard, the book also serves as a reflective aid for practitioners and is essential reading for children's yoga training programs. Other publications on this topic from Schibri Verlag include the new edition of the first children's yoga dissertation and the practical handbook for relaxation training with yoga elements in daycare centers and schools by the same author.
