Product details

New paintings by Cornelius Völker from the years 2010 to 2016 are featured in his new book, which will be released for the opening of a major Cornelius Völker exhibition this coming fall in Münster. The paintings of Cornelius Völker are situated between calligraphy and gestural strokes, as well as between realism and abstract painting, where the artist strives for and achieves high painterly virtuosity. However, he would not be an artist of the Düsseldorf School if he did not make a powerful attempt to subvert any entrenched perspective of the viewer through his iconography, which is oriented towards everyday subjects, paired with an artificial, almost quirky color palette. His new works are commented on in written contributions by Robert Fleck, Gregor Jansen, Gail Kirkpatrick, Magdalena Kröner, and Anna von Münchhausen. Cornelius Völker was born in 1965 in Kronach.
