The work of Cy Twombly (1928-2011) is one of the most fascinating and outstanding artistic oeuvres of the late 20th and early 21st centuries. Born in Lexington, Virginia, the artist received his education at Black Mountain College before choosing to move to the Old World after long stays in New York. His paintings, sculptures, and drawings have been exhibited worldwide and have gained the status of sensually experienced poetry due to their innovative power and distinctive, very personal visual language. Between 1992 and 2014, six volumes of the Catalogue Raisonné of Twombly's paintings were published by Schirmer/Mosel Verlag, edited by Heiner Bastian. The author now presents the final volume featuring works that have not yet been documented and remained unpublished: nearly 80 works created throughout his entire creative lifetime, dating back to 1960.
