Joseph Beuys (1921-1986) is considered one of the most important figures of the artistic avant-garde of the 20th century, whose work continues to be vibrantly discussed and received even 25 years after his death. The artist, teacher, and political activist would have turned ninety on May 12, 2011. To celebrate this significant anniversary, two new Beuys books are being released by Schirmer/Mosel in conjunction with two consecutive exhibitions at Schellmann Art in Munich. The richly illustrated exhibition catalog "Joseph Beuys: A Colorful World" brings together objects, sculptures, and prints from the period between 1970 and 1986, dedicated to the exploration of color in Joseph Beuys' work.
