Andy Warhol (1928 - 1986) was just 32 years old at the beginning of the 1960s. He became the overnight artistic hero of the Western world. He not only represented the co-invention of Pop Art but also a completely new artistic lifestyle. What was previously called the Bohemian lifestyle transformed under his influence into the "Underground." What used to be a studio he turned into a Factory, where painting, photography, film, fashion, rock music, and art journalism were practiced and revolutionized side by side. There, a creative extended family of beautiful and talented young people worked on their creative liberation, supported by sex and drugs. Andy Warhol's Factory became the site of Warhol's total work of art, including the rock band "The Velvet Underground" and his own gossip magazine, Interview.
