The 2nd Munich Kraepelin Symposium continued the long-standing tradition of the Kraepelin symposia that began in Bonn and were further developed in Munich. This volume summarizes the contributions to the 2nd Munich Kraepelin Symposium, which focused particularly on aspects of the long-term course and long-term therapy of schizophrenia. Emil Kraepelin, who served as the director of the Psychiatric University Clinic in Munich from 1904 until his retirement in 1922, was already intensively engaged with the course aspects of schizophrenia. A key aspect of Kraepelin's concept of "Dementia praecox" is primarily the long-term course, which is unfavorable for this patient group. An important question in today's course research is to what extent the success of therapy, and thus likely also the long-term course, is influenced by the timing of the therapy.
