For his sofa journeys, Josef Trattner uses lightweight, portable foam sofas that he designed himself. In the summer of 2012, he traveled to Romania with them, meeting local or knowledgeable writers, engaging in conversations, inviting them to sofa walks and readings in public spaces, and now documenting this intense journey into the heart of a still largely unknown country with the authors' texts and his photographs. The sedentary furniture that the artist and his authors carry becomes a metaphor for their existence.
