The University Hospital of Cologne firmly implemented the patient service model into its organizational structure in 2008 after a two-year pilot phase. Experiences, insights, and necessary requirements are published for the first time in this book. From the idea to implementation and expansion, various aspects from a business perspective need to be considered. The challenges encountered during the process are clearly presented, and the advantages and disadvantages are critically examined. The book provides a description of the first comprehensive model in the German healthcare system and simultaneously offers guidance for the future establishment of service offerings in this field.
