Product details

The peace movement has historically diverse roots and has not always been united in its exploration of causes, political methods, and goals for peace. Today, the terms pacifism and peace movement are often used synonymously. Generally, the guiding principle of pacifism is the rejection of war and violence, as well as the search for non-violent solutions to international conflicts and the overcoming of warlike causes in society. War has once again become socially acceptable - the barbaric nature of war is obscured by the media. The military does not wage war but engages in humanitarian actions or airstrikes. All parties in the German Bundestag agree on this, with the exception of a small opposition in Parliament. This has been the point of contention for the peace movement, both then and now. The most far-reaching demands of pacifists have been articulated in the magazine Graswurzelrevolution under the theme of the social history of antimilitarism. This introduction to the intellectual history of pacifism and antimilitarism attempts to bring clarity to the terminology of the peace movement in an encyclopedic tradition. This method of enlightenment has always been a method of the peace movement, namely to identify the causes of war and to propose societal and political concepts for peace.
