Product details

Already during the first advance on Warsaw in September 1939, German troops became involved in combat operations in urban areas, without being adequately prepared for their specific requirements. After the invasion of the Soviet Union, it became painfully clear that without controlling the urban transport hubs, which were often defended with utmost determination by the Red Army, it was impossible to maintain control over the occupied territory and secure supply lines. The book illustrates the development of the German combat tactics in cities and their temporary successes up to the Battle of Stalingrad, using regulations, war diaries, personal accounts, and many other sources.
