The Country Indicator 2017 presents representative findings on media education in secondary education in Germany for the third time. This educational monitoring allows for the assessment of the implementation status of digital media in teaching and learning processes at the federal state level, enabling specific developmental impulses to be provided. Developments since the Country Indicator 2015 and 2016 can be illustrated in terms of the school provision of digital media, their use in the classroom, and the promotion of media-related competencies among students. The self-assessment of teachers' media-related competencies can be compared to the findings of the Country Indicator 2016. Furthermore, the Country Indicator 2017 places a thematic focus on the use of digital media in STEM subjects.
