WIA SCHBILN IMA FUSBAL - can such a sentence remain uncorrected in the notebook of a first grader? Should we encourage beginner writers to spell words phonetically? Or should only correct forms be present in their notebooks to prevent incorrect patterns from being ingrained? A debate has erupted around these questions, often conducted emotionally in schools, families, literary sections, and professional journals. The author analyzes and examines the arguments for and against free phonetic writing and concludes that while some concerns are indeed justified, the very first steps into writing can fundamentally be free. However, this does not apply to all children, such as those with speech development disorders or those with insufficient German language skills.
