The new educational plan for Baden-Württemberg mandates a basic media education course for all school types in the 5th grade, aimed at aligning different levels of competence when entering secondary schools. The basic media education course is the appropriate teaching material for this purpose. Similarly, the teaching material is suitable for fundamental media education in all other federal states, both within various subjects and in project-based learning. The practical computer section provides application examples based on Windows 10 and Office 2016. The goal is for students to learn to recognize and use the respective functions of computer applications on platforms other than Windows and independently of the specific device (e.g., PC or tablet). All fundamental areas of media education are addressed in the content.
