Lunch at school is also a part of education. This is the conclusion of Anna Schütz's camera-ethnographic study on full-day school lunches from an educational science perspective. The dominance of school-specific action and interaction patterns, as well as the formalization of the supposedly familial setting, becomes evident through the description of the actual practice of shared meals in schools and the comparison of different lunch settings. Alongside the opportunities for peer cultural practices, there is a tendency for the transformation of educational possibilities and positioning options for the actors involved, resulting from the integration of new offerings and settings through the introduction of full-day education and care.
