School first aid services are organized first aid provided by students in schools. They are gaining increasing interest in German-speaking regions. However, questions often arise for the supervising teachers and school administration regarding the content-related, pedagogical, and legal legitimacy of such voluntary school social services. The study places the school first aid service in the context of extracurricular, intra-school social learning. Various aspects of implementation are highlighted. First, the discussion focuses on what social learning in school actually means and where it occurs—consciously or unconsciously. Furthermore, different existing school social services, such as the school fire brigade, are presented and compared to the school first aid service. The current training guidelines for the school first aid service are reviewed and compared with recommendations.
