Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is an incurable disease of the motor nervous system that is not yet widely known to the public. Due to the chronically progressive nature of the disease, those affected and their families are confronted with increasingly new limitations. These limitations impact many different areas of life, such as movement, speaking, swallowing, and breathing. The approach to dealing with such a serious illness as ALS is shaped by the individuality of the affected individuals; therefore, a guide cannot provide a uniform guideline that is meaningful and correct for everyone. Instead, it aims to present topics that patients and their families encounter during the course of the disease, offering information, advice, thematic assessments, and food for thought, as well as tips and everyday aids.
