The book introduces the theory and practice of mirror therapy. In mirror therapy, a mirror is positioned at the midline of a patient's body so that the reflection of the unaffected limb appears as if it were the affected limb. The visual feedback provided by the mirror leads to additional activation of the contralateral hemisphere of the brain in the patient. This treatment approach adds another component to neurological treatment methods in occupational therapy. The clinical effects of mirror therapy have already been demonstrated in scientific studies. The authors describe the neurophysiological background of mirror therapy, present their own study on its effectiveness, and illustrate its practical application in neurological rehabilitation.
