Just ten kilometers downstream from Basel lies the freely accessible and well-developed nature reserve of Petite Camargue Alsacienne (PCA). Here, we can still encounter the river floodplain landscape that once covered vast areas of the Upper Rhine Plain. The PCA holds treasures that are worth discovering and preserving. The goal of this book is to introduce visitors to the beauty of this landscape based on relevant background knowledge. It presents examples from flora and fauna, organized by seasons, and illustrates them with numerous photos and drawings. Maps indicate where in the nature reserve the featured species can primarily be found. The consistently bilingual German-French texts and the trilingual index (German, French, Latin) facilitate communication among visitors of different languages.
