The religious landscape is in motion. While there was still something like a "harmonious world" in the churches during the 1970s, the "ecclesiastical field" today is just one among many ideological options. This development challenges the Christian churches: How do they find their place in this new diversity, and how do they engage in dialogue with the "Others" (Muslims, spiritual seekers, atheists)? Politics is also affected, as the practice of excluding religion from political affairs, which became a matter of course after the Enlightenment, is no longer feasible. This long-term study identifies the relevant ideological fields and provides essential foundational analyses for decision-makers in churches and politics.
