Open relationships are currently a hot topic. The idea of not having to be sexually faithful to your partner is undoubtedly interesting – after all, it’s about sex, and who doesn’t find that exciting? However, it’s not surprising that the topic polarizes despite all the curiosity. Additionally, (real or imagined) attachment fears can also play a role here. Fear of commitment is the number one problem for Generation Y, and so varied sex and a familiar relationship are attempted simultaneously. But is that allowed? Does it really work so simply to maintain an intimate, loving, and familiar relationship while also exploring the beds of the world? That sounds too extreme to be true.
