Reading and spelling difficulties are among the permanent challenges for teachers and for school psychological counselling. A basic understanding of the causes and side effects of these difficulties as well as a sound knowledge of diagnostic procedures and support options are prerequisites for effective counselling and support services. This volume presents the current international state of research on reading and spelling difficulties. The appearance of dyslexia is described in the context of international classification systems and their implementation in the German-speaking world.
