In her wildest dreams, the healer Inara could never have imagined that fulfilling an unusual request would completely turn her previously quiet life upside down. But that is exactly what happens when her spaceship is suddenly attacked by the notorious Black Guard, leaving her stranded on an ice planetoid, where to her horror she first encounters an exceedingly lively (un)dead being and then loses her supernatural healing powers. Even her best friend Caitleen, a healer like herself, can only offer limited help in this situation. Thus, she and her mysterious new companion embark on a journey through the universe in search of her lost healing talent and his lost soul, as well as his past, facing old fears and new enemies along the way.
