There has been peace since yesterday. Hanne, born in 1931, was an enthusiastic member of the BDM, like most young girls in Germany. After the end of the war, nothing she believed in is valid anymore. Adam, an English soldier, comes to her village with the occupation troops. Hanne is the first to notice: something develops between Julia, her best friend, and the young Englishman that no one would have thought possible just a short time ago. To be in control of oneself, to follow one's own thoughts and feelings, freedom instead of dictatorship - for Hanne this is a completely new experience. She discovers her curiosity about life and love.
