Using the example of the Constance city administration, this study sheds light on the role of local governments in the Third Reich based on a wide range of sources. It aims to measure the integration of the Constance city administration into the Nazi structures and demonstrates bottom-up initiatives that significantly contributed to the radicalization of Nazi policy with the goal of creating a racially and pre-modern based national community.
