Product details

We see a world that needs no color, one that speaks to our senses in the finest nuances with a visual language that approaches the nature of the Black Forest in its own unique way. The book "Schwarz.Wald.Land." celebrates the color black. Not abstract, but concrete, using the example of the mountain landscape that bears the name black. The visual artist and photographer Joseph Carlson describes the forest as a generator of atmospheric symbols, meditative images, and moods. In doing so, Joseph Carlson engages with a motif that he is intimately familiar with. For decades, he has had the forest in view from his home and traverses it on his daily paths. His visual creations have emerged from everyday life, stemming from a continuous engagement with an extraordinarily rich source of imagery. As a stylistic device, he relies on fine nuances and the sensitivity of gray values. The forest does not.
