Japan finds itself in a dystopian present. America has abandoned its former ally, and hundreds of thousands of homeless people roam the country, battered by a massive economic crisis. Right-wing politicians are gaining momentum. North Korea, having improved its relations with the U.S., decides to exploit the weakness of its despised neighbor and plans a treacherous invasion. Disguised as defectors from North Korea, a unit of nine elite soldiers occupies the baseball stadium in the Japanese port city of Fukuoka and takes 30,000 spectators hostage. As part of the covert operation "In Love, Your Fatherland," an additional 120,000 soldiers are set to follow, aiming to turn southern Japan into a province of North Korea. While the Japanese government takes hysterical and futile measures, an absurd nightmare unfolds in Fukuoka.
