The light novel series tells the backstory to the manga. The Hyakuya sect invites Guren and Shinya to a secret meeting. Eager to finally learn about Mahiru's whereabouts and the impending apocalypse, they accept the offer. However, on the night the meeting is supposed to take place, they witness their contacts being brutally murdered by a vampire. Tense, Shinya and Guren wait in their hideout for the dangerous opponent to finally leave, but nothing escapes the eyes of a vampire.
