Sexuality in old age is the intense encounter with a "you," a counterpart. It is a longing for human closeness, for affection, tenderness, and time. However, sexuality in old age is often silenced in care facilities because it does not align with the moral views of the providers. In nursing textbooks, sexuality in old age is only briefly mentioned. It is not surprising that caregivers feel overwhelmed when confronted with the sexuality of older people. They are often also exposed to forms of sexual harassment from residents, which can lead to disappointment and even burnout. This book helps caregivers better understand older people and their relationship with sexuality. It encourages conversations about sexuality in old age and contributes to taking the sexual desires of sick individuals seriously.
