What can be done against the pressure to conform? Autonomy is considered a central human trait. However, it is under attack from many sides: Neuroscience argues that the will is not free, and social psychology demonstrates through its experiments, as well as through internet shitstorms, how powerful the pressure to conform is. The consequences are significant when our autonomy is at risk. Harald Welzer and Michael Pauen analyze the situation based on their own experiments and research to reveal possible ways to resist: How can communities be designed to keep conformity pressures low?
