Product details

In February 2014, Alexander Wendt voluntarily admitted himself to the psychiatric ward of the University of Munich. The reason: a long-standing depression. When he leaves the clinic, he knows how to cope with his illness. He has learned in therapy to accept the "bitch" as a challenge, to embrace it as a lifelong companion, and - this is the hardest part - to train it, meaning not to fall into the victim role. This book is about that: the art of setting boundaries with one's depression and teaching it not to take over and reshape the entire life of a depressed person. Precisely because it is not a punishment but a disruption of brain chemistry, it can also be fought from within. Interestingly, one of the best ways to do this is by making fun of it. Humor doesn't automatically make a depressed person's life better, but it does make it more entertaining.
