Today, public discourse takes into account people's feelings everywhere: warnings are issued about dangers such as explicit language, writing styles with gendered forms are recommended, and third toilet doors are installed. It seems that the struggle for correct terminology and consideration of identity issues has overshadowed all other battles. Robert Pfaller, author of the bestseller "What Makes Life Worth Living," questions in adult language the disappearance of these issues from politics and culture, wondering how it has come to be that we no longer want to be addressed as adults, but rather treated like children by politics. Is there a diversionary tactic at play? A political strategy? The aim is to be taken seriously as responsible citizens again - but then we should also be addressed as such.
