On April 20, 1999, Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris entered Columbine High School armed with rifles and explosives. There, they killed twelve students and one teacher, injured twenty-four others, and then took their own lives. It was the worst school shooting in history. Dylan Klebold was my son. Sixteen years after her son Dylan's rampage, Sue Klebold shares her struggle with the question of whether she could have prevented the act if she had only been more attentive and loving. Sue Klebold has gone through hell but has not been broken by her son's actions. She has found a way to continue living and hopes to help other parents prevent what she could not stop. One thing she is firmly convinced of: parental love alone is not enough to protect children and adolescents from the consequences of undetected mental health issues.
