Product details

God appeared to him in the burning bush and commanded him to lead the people of Israel out of Egypt; on Mount Sinai, he received the Ten Commandments and thus became the founder of the first monotheistic religion. This is how the Bible tells the story of Moses. In Sigmund Freud's "The Man Moses," we read a different account: Moses, the high-ranking Egyptian dignitary and follower of the sun god Aton, allied himself with the followers of Yahweh and fled Egypt with them. However, the Israelites then revolted against his rule and murdered him. This "patricide" is said to have given rise to the wish fantasy of a messiah who would one day return. Two stories at opposite ends of a long tradition of debates surrounding the figure of Moses.
