Product details

In the winter of 1942/43, Sophie and Hans Scholl fight against the Nazi regime with the leaflets of the "White Rose." At the same time, Fritz Hartnagel, an officer in the German Wehrmacht, is trapped in the encirclement of Stalingrad. When he receives Sophie’s last letter in the hospital, her death sentence has already been carried out. Their friendship, which blossomed into love between the sixteen-year-old student and the young lieutenant, began in 1937. Their time together and conversations often had to be replaced by letters: these reflect all phases of this extraordinary relationship, the differing views of the two, as well as their need for closeness, their efforts to attain and preserve inner freedom and the ability to act responsibly—"against all odds.".
