In her poems, Martynova is a wild anarchist. Poems are messages in a bottle, as we have known since Mandelstam and Celan. This message is song and prayer, protocol and analysis. Ideally, she articulates what remains unspoken and marginalized. Olga Martynova works as a lyricist with an awareness of the rich heritage left by the avant-garde art of the 20th century. At the same time, she does not abandon older traditions, referencing Dante's Commedia as one of the main sources of European poetry, which arose from the mourning of a deceased woman. Olga Martynova's poems allow space for grief and war, for inquiry and anger, but also for the everyday and the admiration of the world. Since the late 1990s, she has written her prose in German and her poems in Russian. Since the death of her husband, the poet Oleg Jurjew, she has no longer written in Russian.
