This small teaching and reading book aims to lead readers to the ability to read Catalan texts in the most economically efficient way possible. By utilizing the transferability of knowledge from other languages, particularly Romance languages (French, Spanish, Italian, as well as English and German), one can independently engage with Catalan texts and understand the content globally or even in detail from the very beginning. At the same time, one can also independently deduce or hypothesize the most important grammatical structures, which can then be confirmed or corrected through further reading, thereby solidifying that knowledge.

In practice, through contact with original Catalan texts, one discovers: 1.) that the language is understandable from other languages (i.e., intercomprehensible), 2.) that by reading texts, one automatically derives knowledge about grammar that does not need to be learned separately and can be reinforced through further reading, 3.) that through continuous reading, one rapidly builds a rich vocabulary without having to memorize vocabulary lists, and 4.) that this vocabulary knowledge is built on the basis of bridge words that are similarly known from other languages, as well as through the sentence and text context that suggests the meaning of each word.
