Gun, Whistle, Pharaohs

The professional interest in mummification techniques from the time of the pharaohs leads the master detective, accompanied by his temporary assistant David Tristram, to Egypt. Upon arriving in Alexandria, he unexpectedly receives a commission from the excavator Dr. Jones to recover the lost historical map that belonged to the veteran Major Wallace. Holmes encounters the shady Coptic priest Menas, who also runs an art trade, and an equally opaque merchant who calls himself Saladin. However, before Holmes can locate the missing map, the Major's assistant is murdered on the way to the excavation site—a crime that naturally draws Holmes' undivided attention.
