The German zoologist and ornithologist Constantin Wilhelm Lambert Gloger (1803 to 1863) wrote this extensive and impressive work on the mammals, birds, amphibians, and fish found in Silesia around the beginning of the 19th century. He took into account the general character of the region as well as the local and quantitative occurrence of the animals in his book. This volume is a reprint of the original edition from 1833.
